Screenwriter Chelsea Cassio has worked with many of Australia's most prominent production companies across numerous television productions.
After graduating from film school, she sold her first short film, Imaginary Friend, to ABC (Australia), which aired over three years. She has since written for shows such as The Doctor Blake Mysteries (December Media/ ABC /BBC), Secret Bridesmaids Business (7 Network / Channel 4), Miss Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries (7 Network / Acorn TV) and Troppo (Amazon Freevee).
In 2022, she was selected for the UGC Writers Campus, where she was invited to pitch her original drama concept ‘The Others’ on stage at Series Mania in Lille, France. In 2023, Chelsea's crime series 'Cloak' won best TV pilot screenplay at the Prix Royal: Paris Screenplay Awards and was a finalist at the Swedish International Film Festival and the Fabrique Du Cinema Awards in Rome. 'Cloak' also received significant draft development funding from Vic Screen (Australia), where she worked extensively with producer Simon Mirren (Versailles, Criminal Minds).
Chelsea's original television and film concepts have engaged various production companies including Mediawan (France), Federation Entertainment (France) and Atlantic Nomad (UK), and in Australia: Easy Tiger, Hoodlum Entertainment, Princess Pictures, Curio Pictures and Seven Studios.
In other story roles, Chelsea has worked as a lecturer for RMIT's Advanced Diploma in Screenwriting, as a Development Script Producer at Seven Studios in Melbourne, as a script reader for the Scriptwriters’ Network in Los Angeles, and as an industry assessor and mentor for Victoria Screen, Screen Australia, Australian Writers’ Guild and Writers’ Victoria.
Chelsea is a graduate of the Writers' Homicide School in Las Vegas, where she honed her skills as a mystery writer.
